Abstract:Earlier in this year, the Institute of Economic Affairs published a book "Freedom in Broadcasting". The book claims that public service broadcasting is out of date, and a richer and more varied service can be provided by consumers and producers interacting in the market.Commercial mechanisms should replace the current methods of financing , either in the form of subscription or advertising funding.
