Abstract:This article examines the real concept of competition laws to protect consumers from the interest of the competitors and considers usefulness of the anti-trust enforcement. The author also pays an attention to complaints against the Microsoft Company and to contradiction between the ideals of anti-trust laws and the reality of private interests. The paper examines why the DOJ and AGs decided to file US v Microsoft, and why the court decided to split Microsoft into two pieces, an operating systems company and an applications software company, and restricted the competitive activities of the former. The paper states that it is Microsoft competitors who will gain from the decision.
