| Abstract: | This paper analyzes if the historical activities of the Antitrust Division have had an impact on employment (and, as a consequence, economic welfare) in the U.S. economy. Using data of period 1947-1981 the authors find a positive and significant relationship between unanticipated increases in Antitrust Division enforcement activities and the unemployment rate. |
