Abstract:Economic analysis, being infatuated with price competition, often ignores the role of innovation in the competitive process. Consequently, antitrust policy (at least in the U.S.) defines markets too narrowly and is hostile to cooperation to effectuate innovation. The paper suggests new definitions, ensuring that the antitrust policy assists rather than impedes competition.
