Abstract:Industrial policy should be designed to facilitate competition in new products and technology. A significant element of this policy is related to actions alleged to suppress new process development. The author examines the economic meaning of product suppression , reviews the record of litigation on product suppression in the U.S. and proposes new means to evaluate product suppression claims.
