Abstract:By the year 2000, China's domestic textile and clothing markets will be the largest ones in terms of both quantity and amount of money. The foreign exchange created through the export of clothing and textiles, and fibroid products will amount to US$ 55 billion and US$ 14,000, accounting for 12.2% of the world's total and nearing the average level of the world respectively. The import volumes of clothing and textiles will reach US$ 2.5 billion and US$ 15 billion, increasing 1.76 times and up 36.4% respectively over 1995, thus becoming the largest import country of textiles. In the long period of time, China's textile industry as a pillar industry will continue to shoulder the heavy responsibility of creating exchange through export to support the development of national industry.
