Abstract:Singapore has been fertile territory for banks over the past 30 years. Despite its lack of natural resources, the tropical island has enjoyed an economic boom of nearmiracle proportions, and nurtured a thriving regional financial centre. Local and foreign bankers point to strict regulation of the financial system and an excellent infrastructure - for example, its gleaming underground system - as ingredients in its tremendous and impressive success.
