| Abstract: | Asian banks are steaming ahead, with one eye on the rocks of risky debts. Economic boom times and liberalisation in Asia are furnishing the region's banks with opportunities for growth that are the envy of banks in other regions. Infrastructure financing alone promises to be a bonanza for local and foreign banks. However, high growth rates and rapid change carry risks as well as rewards. The Top 200 Asian listing comprises banks from 17 Asian countries; Taiwan, with 37, has the most banks in the listing. |
