Abstract:In China, the influences of rises in the prices of farm products on inflation are great. For instance, in 1993 and 1994, among the factors contributing to the retail price rises, the rises in the prices of farm products accounted for 53% and 70% respectively. Since China began to carry out reform and opening to the outside world 14 years ago, with the average prices of farm products increased by 1%, the retail prices usually rise by 0.53%. In recent years, the prices of farm products have risen more rapidly. There are many reasons for that but the most important one is the shift of urban and rural structures.
