Abstract: | This paper's theory helps analyze and describe different national governance styles. The paper describes how and why different governance structures have evolved, and facilitates meaningful comparisons of different structures both within and between national economies. Although focusing on Japan and the US, the paper's results are equally applicable to comparisons of other national economies, such as those of Western Europe. The paper shows why projects of high uncertainty might not be viable under market capitalism but might be under an industrial banking or keiretsu form of capitalism. |
