Abstract: | This paper explores the extent to which students in the introductory (hereafter as: intr-y.) human resource management (HRM) course in U.S. institutions are likely to be exposed to information on international (here as: int.) and cross-cultural aspects of HRM. Two methods are used: 1. an analysis of int. content in 15 popular intr-y. HRM textbooks and 2. a survey of professors teaching intr-y. HRM. The vast majority of respondents said their classes got some exposure to int. issues in HRM, and most intr-y. texts included some relevant content. Critiques of int. boxed features and dedicated IHRM chapters are provided, and suggestions for improving the quality and depth of IHRM content in intr-y. textbooks are made. |
