| Abstract: | Unexploited natural environment and cultural riches attract tourists. This article discusses the impact of tourism routes on rural communities in less developed countries. It is argued that rural tourism routes may improve the living conditions and increase the economic viability of marginalized areas. However, public sector support and community participation are needed to attain positive development. |
