Abstract:The history, present situation and the future outlook of the big British store chain, Littlewoods is overviewed. Littlewoods can be characterized now as one of the high street survivors as retailers, but its mail order catalogues are on the market. Index which was started by Littlewoods, as a rival to the successful Argos stores, is moving into profit ahead of time. Despite being a household name, pools is the most secretive part of its business; Littlewoods has a virtual monopoly /over 75 percent/ of the GBP 750 million pools market. It has introduced home shopping GBP 35 million on computers in the past five years. Despite all the changes it still bears many of the hallmarks of a family-owned company. technological innovation
