| Abstract: | The British economy shows sings of lasting weakness before the election. The recession was over last summer, but the economic growth has not commenced. The impulses from a loosening in the economic policy have not counterbalanced the effects of policy of high interest rates. GDP stagnates since last summer; however, in 1991 it was 2.4 p.c.lower than one year before. Capacity exploitation has decreased until recently. Monetary restriction has had its impacts mainly on equipment-machinery investments, these were about 10 p.c. lower then one year before. |
