Abstract: | Improved economic perspectives in the USA will foster the improvement of conjunctural climate worldwide. This holds especially for Japan, since both economies still are tied rather close. Supported by the increasing efforts of fiscal and monetary policy to stimulate demand, it is probable that overall production in Japan will gain momentum in the later course of 1992. Residential construction will be stimulated by lower interest rates, public construction by increased government spending. Due to the dampened conjunctural momentum in the first half of the year of 1992, real GNP will grow by no more than 1.5-2 p.c. in 1992. With imports rising only a little and exports expanding markedly, the high current account aurplus will rise even more. |
