| Abstract: | Influenced by the cycle of labor growth and the structural adjustment, China's labour still presented a pattern of supply exceeding demand during the Eighth Five-Year Plan period. So in 1997 , the rising of unemployment rate is hard to avoid and the urban unemployment rate will stand at 3%-3.5%. A large batch of urban redundant workers will transfer to the tertiary industry. Because of the state- owned sector's weakening capacity of absorbing labour, other economic units will become new growth points of employment. At present, in employment, there are contradictions between raising labour productivity and creating more employment chances, between enterprises' going bankrupt and decreasing the number of the unemployed, between rural employment in cities and urban employment,etc. |
