Abstract:In terms of population and GDP, both scales of Guangzhou are approx. a half that of Shanghai. However, in terms of per capita level, quite a number of economic indicators of Guangzhou are basically near Shanghai's. The input-output efficiency of both cities is almost the same. But the total industrial output value of Guangzhou is only one third that of Shanghai and so is its local budgetary income. However, some economic indicators of Guangzhou are higher than Shanghai's. Guangzhou's total volume of passenger transport and total volume of freight transport are more than these of Shanghai's and some of its circulation industries and its tertiary industry are more advanced, compared with Shanghai.
