Abstract:In 1996, the total import and export volume of foreign trade rose by 7% (import, 10% and export, 5%) over 1995 and the trade surplus was about US$ 10 billion. In 1997, the macro economic operation will be in the upward stage of the new round of economic cycle. The foreign trade policy will not be tight, but the export will not expand greatly. The state-owned foreign trade will still face many difficulties, in export, such as the increasing cost of converting RMB into foreign currency, enterprises' suffering losses in earning profits and the export structure which needs to be adjusted. So China's export will maintain a small growth. It is estimated that the growth rate will stand at 10-12%, better than last year and there will be more surplus in income and expenses of trade.
