| Abstract: | 1998 is a special year both for the world and China. The financial crisis in Southeast and East Asia has imposed challenges on the world economy. The speed of China's economic growth in 1998 may reach 8 percent (GDP), which is not only an option in economy but also with strategic and overall implications. A significant increase in the amplification of investment might appear in the latter half of the year. The exchange rate between RMB and US dollar remains stable basically. Household consumption may increase in pace with GDP. |
