| Abstract: | The GATT Antidumping Code is discussed. The connection between dumping that arises because of international price discrimination and injury transmitted to an industry through lower prices is analyzed. Effects of international price discrimination on import-competing industries are outlined. Alternative interpretations of the law are compared. In an appendix some of the analytical propositions are proved. The analysis is strictly valid only if the exporting firm's marginal production cost is constant. The analytical framework is applied to the US antidumping law. |
