Abstract: | The purpose of the article is to better understand how famous individuals are used as tourist attractions. The authors analyze effectiveness criteria for these icon attractions, and disclose three situational factors (culture, history and government involvement) that affect the operation of icon attractions. The application of these three factors were compared in the United States and in China. The results of the study also suggest that icon attractions may be evaluated from three aspects: are characteristics of icons, organization and impacts. |
