Abstract:The article aims to detect possible national differences in shopping for luxury goods between Western, Asian and Hispanic tourists and to examine the perceived importance of the types of the goods tourists purchase. The data are collected from 275 visitors to South Beach, Florida. According to the findings of the study, buying "gifts for others" is more important to Western and Asian tourists than for Hispanic tourists. For Asian tourists buying "golf equipment", "health and spa/wellness treatment", "luxury cruises" and "luxury yachts/rentals" is more important than for Hispanic tourists. Finally, Western tourists perceive "fine dining" more important than Hispanic tourists.
