Abstract: | Discrete-events simulation models are commonly used in investigations of queueing systems, and it is discussed how such models can easily be implemented on a microcomputer. The portfolio selection problem considers a set of securities and finds the efficient frontier, that is, those portfolios which have minimal variances for given expectations. It is described how reasonably large portfolio selection problems can also be solved on microcomputer. The particular micro referred to in both examples is an IBM Personal Computer with 64OK of RAM and a mathematical processor. Micros and the implementation of management science is discussed. |
