| Abstract: | Results from a comparative analysis of the global strategy of leading Japanese pharmaceutical enterprises are presented. It is concluded that there are major differences among the strategies of the companies examined. The differences concern the approach towards globalization and the present state of globalization. In an overall evaluation companies that have greater potential than others to emerge as fully-fledged competitors at the international level are identified. It is found that most important problems in globalization are the lack of international management experience and the successful long-term management of R and D. |
