| Abstract: | The article discusses issues concerning the development of industrial R&D activities during the twentieth century. The particular case analyzed was the electronics company Philips, located in the Netherlands. The historical review focus on its research and development unit, Natuurkundig Laboratorium, and its role in the company and in the national innovation context during the period 1914-1994. |
