Abstract: | Kodak has one of the largest R&D organizations of the world employing about 9,000 people and spending more than 1 billion USD a year. A lot of other data characterizing the firm's research activity are mentioned. The ways of improving the odds of success are highlihted. R and D decisions are analyzed. R and D reorganization from a huge, centralized organization into distinct product groups is described. The idea behind the reorganization was to link technology strategies more directly with business strategies in order to get more quickly into the marketplace. Some of the management tools (decision risk analysis, committees, projects etc.) are overviewed. |
