| Abstract: | Management challenges of a global R and D are examined. A review of the literature concerning globalization in the field of marketing, procurement, production as well as R and D is presented. The reasons for globalization of R and D are explained: changes in business structures; international joint ventures; mergers; pressures to reduce innovations' throughput time; getting nearer to the customers etc. Recommendations are made on locating R and D organizations abroad taking into account the technology strategy of the company and a number of external factors. A network model of R and D integration is developed. Some implications for personnel management are considered. |
