| Abstract: | Some characteristics of research and development strategies are examined. The rationality of strategic choice in research and development is assessed. The role of market structure and organization in research and development strategies is highlighted. A new analytical framework of the study of technological innovation is presented. Human resources, time management, and financial constraints as the most important topics of analysis are discussed. Case studies are provided to illustrate the main points in the discussion. Some implications for project selection and project management are indicated. |
