Abstract: | One of the interesting topics in the theory of the multinational corporations (MNCs) is to explain the phenomenon of mutual penetration of MNCs. Some previous research results are reviewed. A new reciprocal dumping model with additional parameters that measure country size is presented. The main results obtained are: 1. the presence of transport costs causes mutual penetration of MNCs; 2. the larger country tends to lose and the smaller country tends to gain; 3. global welfare increases. In the appendix the implications of tariffs and differential marginal costs of production are considered. |
