Abstract: | In this study, new evidence is provided that both differential interpretations and private information (here as: info.) production encourage trading volume for a sample of 144 preliminary earnings announcements (as: ern-anns.) in the French markets. Among others, it is found that good news stimulates more production of private info., whereas bad news leads to more differential interpretations. It is also found that increased production of private info. helps to explain trading volume around good news preliminary ern-anns. |
