Abstract:According to a management survey conducted in 1989, American chief executives do not think that foreign competitors will pose much a threat to USA companies in the twenty-first century. Such attitudes have relegated competitive intelligence. With a few notable exceptions, USA firms have not embraced the intelligence profession as a business discipline. Senior management's critical role is emphasized in seeing that a company has the intelligence capabilities it needs to compete successfully.
