| Abstract: | The transition to a market economy requires radical changes in structural design, imposition of private initiatives, and changes in compliant workings. The transition economies of Eastern Europe cannot be handled within traditional paradigms. In the former East Germany the transformation is taking place at unusual pace and in the most condensed form. Coordinated and strategically directed aid to self-help is required that may take the form of a recovery programme for Eastern Europe. |
