Abstract: | Information technology has a polarizing effect on managers, it either bedazzles or frightens. Too many managers still believe that once the right technology is in place, appropriate information sharing will flow. Most managers don't rely on computer-based information to make decisions. Information managers must begin by thinking about how people use information, not how people use machines. The article suggests a new approach to information which promises business benefits that few managers could conceive of when focusing strictly on technology. |
