Abstract:Because of its key role in recruitment and training, a company's human resources department is particularly well situated to help instill a total quality approach throughout the company. In addition, the department can lead by example, demonstrating consistent attention to quality in all of its day-to-day functions. When actively backed by top management, a leadership role by human resources increases the chances that total quality management will succeed and also raises the profile and status of this key department.
