| Abstract: | Business and environmental groups do not have to be at loggerheads. Extensive interviews suggest that prospects for cooperation are greatly improved when both parties have compatible objectives, patience, and a willingness to understand the other's viewpoint and constraints. When these are missing, however, confrontation becomes more likely. |
