Abstract:The new concept "Made in Europe" is introduced as a means of communicating the uniform European quality standards to consumers all over the world. A brief overview of the theory of consumer information processing and of country of origin effects is provided as a foundation for the discussion and evaluation of the "Made in Europe" label. An empirical study was conducted to investigate the favorability of the label "Made in Europe" in connection with nine product categories.
