| Abstract: | A network of common carrier petroleum pipelines is operated by Conoco Pipe Line, a subsidary of Conoco, Inc. The system uses sophisticated operational procedures that are supported by critical computer-based hardware and software systems. This article discusses one of the pipelines in Conoco's extensive network. A description of the operations of the pipeline process is given with an emphasis on significance of the computer-based systems that make it possible to transport petroleum products in this manner. |
