Abstract:Few managers disagree with the need for companies to remain technologically current. Adopting the latest innovations , however, is not sufficient. The new technologies must be integrated with existing systems and used in a manner that exploits their full potential. Doing so involves organizational learning. In this article the authors discuss how organizational learning works when integrating an innovation into an existing operating system. Case studies are used to examine the different learning experiences and successes of manufacturers who adopted the same new technology.
