Abstract: | In the last decades competition in the car industry focused primarily on technology, design, equipment, and price. Especially by introducing lean production principles carmakers could achieve significant improvements in terms of efficiency, product development cycles, and cost reduction. Given the fact that a customer's past sales and service ecperience with a dealer contributes to approximately 50 percent of customer satisfaction with the make and influences the decision to purchase the same make again by similar amount manufacturers currently direct their competitive energies towards distribution. In contrast to other countries the German automotive distribution system has not experienced great changes in the past 50 years. With the new Selective Distribution Legislation processes will take place. |
