Abstract:The principles of the ECCO (Evolution of Capital Creation Options) macroeconomic holistic modelling approach are described, with reference to a complex ECCO model of the UK economy. Emphasis is placed upon the feedbacks between sectors and the impacts of policy upon the endogenously determined rate of physical growth. The derivation of a holistic environmental cost function using the model output, incorporating many secondary and tertiary effects, is demonstrated for the case of sulphur dioxide emissions reduction by three methods.
