Abstract:As a player in the world manufacturing arena, the United States has made great strides to increase its competitiveness during the past decade. Trends in productivity, quality, cycle time reduction, product development and service are all on the upswing. Domestic manufacturers have boosted U.S. competitiveness by exploiting a host of technology and system enhancement strategies that have included process redesign, enhanced inventory control systems, integrated planning and information systems, and cellular manufacturing processes.
