Abstract:This paper presents a critical analysis of current 'green business' literature. The authors pay particular attention to the evangelical language of the literature, and consider whether such green evangelism represents an effective rhetorical strategy. They suggest that current prescriptions for 'organizational eco-change' are often buttressed by evangelic rhetoric and are reliant on the assumption that organizations will voluntarily become greener. Finally, they argue that an organizational eco-change will only come about through stronger state regulation.
