Abstract:The financial crisis in Southeast Asia which gradually evolved into a slump in share prices worldwide reflects the high integration of global economy and finance. It has eliminated some "bubble" components in the world economy and will help investors to regain their reason and make financial market operate smoothly. Despite the financial turmoil in Southeast Asia, the exchange rate of RMB would not be adjusted downward recently. The reasons for it are as follows: There has been no possibility of reverse flow of capital as of yet. There is lack of reasons leading to an adverse balance devaluation of RMB exchange rate under the current account. The influence of the present measures to relax control over foreign exchange and foreign trade is limited. The present system of foreign exchange management restrict the influence of market expectation on RMB.
