| Abstract: | The growth of capital markets in developing countries has received much attention in the past few years. Investors in developed markets associate these emerging markets with high returns, high volatility, and diversification benefits. This article claims that contrary to the results often presented in the press these markets have not produced high levels of compound returns relative to U.S. markets for the last 20 years. |
