| Abstract: | Hong Kong's economy has developed from the single transit trade to the new industrialized economy dominated by processing trade-oriented manufacturing industring and now to the pluralized economy with service industry holding the leading position, which is a unique economic transformational model suiting Hong Kong's economic conditions. Hong Kong began to surpass Japan in terms of international competitive power in 1995 and entered the ranks of the world's first three. Along with the economic transformation, upgrading of industrial structural, especially upgrading of service industry, Hong Kong has become a service-based economic centre in Asia and the Pracific Region. At the same time, the products of manufacturing industry have shifted from "being made in Hong Kong" to "being made by Hong Kong". |
