| Abstract: | Existing literature on the resource-based theory (RBT) has shown its widespread application, heterogeneity, and worthiness as a strategic approach. The authors here have applied an inductive perspective and analyzed empirically the assumptions underlying the RBT. The main trends of the theory are identified, and their diffusion in leading management journals is noted. The authors have identified three main trends that coexist within the RBT: the resource based, knowledge based and the relational view. |
