Abstract:This paper discusses the idea investors (here as: invts.) having moral reasons (as: m-rs.) to avoid investing (as: inv-g.) in certain business areas, based on their own moral views (as: m-vs). This issue is referred to as 'conscience investing' as a central part of the conception of ethical (as: eth.) inv-g. within the movement of socially responsible investment (SRI). It is argued that focusing on the m-vs. of individual invts. is not very fruitful. There are strong reasons to think that invts. do not have m-rs. to invest 'with their consciences', or, ... , that they are very weak compared with other sorts of m-rs. pertaining to eth. inv-g.
