Abstract:To answer the two significant questions in today´s tourism related to issues with stakeholders and in more detail who should be considered as stakeholders in tourism development and how should they be involved by planners and developers in the development process of tourism. In this study the authors focus on sustainable tourism development and how stakeholder inclusion and involvement are incorporated in the general concept of sustainable tourism development. The authors study these issues through reviewing and drawing conclusions from previous literature. The study also offers discussion of the topic, which has perspectives from management as well as public participation. Findings show that there are four distinct groups that can be recognized as groups that should be included in the sustainable tourism development process. These groups are: the present visitors, future visitors, host community, and future host community.
