| Abstract: | This paper describes and explains differences in nationality diversity within executive boards of European Multinational Corporations (MNCs), incl. both country and company characteristics. The data consist of over 2200 individual executives in more than 360 companies all-over 15 EU countries. It is concluded that in 2005, the executive boards of these companies are only marginally diverse as to the nationalities. However, differences btw. European countries are substantial. The differences are shown to result from unique differences in governance regimes within the individual countries, and to a lesser extent the result of company characteristics. |
