Abstract: | This article deals with the 'politics of production' within grocery warehousing and distribution (here as: dstrn.), highlighting the complex linkages btw. logistics companies and their main supermarket customers. It is uncovered how an understanding of employment change within grocery dstrn. involves mapping the linkages, thereby examining their impact on the labour process. Drawing on case-study evidence from two third-party grocery dstrn. companies, the nature of the linkages btw. these organisations with their effects on the labour process is empirically examined. It is concluded by highlighting how the power of the retailers and the corresponding 'logistics revolution' has reshaped the 'politics of production'. |
